Hassan Al-Husseini explains Saba’ik Al-Bukhari
Methodology in the book
1. I selected 500 Hadith from Sahih Al-Bukhari, and I removed all the chains of narration, leaving only the name of the companion who narrated the Hadith. This concise summary, despite its small size, contains much of the intended meaning of the original.
2. I was keen to choose short Hadiths, and I extracted the main point from long Hadiths to make the summary easy for memorization, accessible for learners, light for owners, and close for viewers.
My methodology in selection is based on comprehensiveness and diversity, so that the summary is "comprehensive" of various fields and arts, and "comprehensive" of different aspects and sciences, including: beliefs, rulings, acts of worship, transactions, relationships, boundaries, morals, rights, virtues, qualities, Sunnahs, biographies, medicine, literature, spiritual refinement, reliance on the Book and Sunnah, and others.
4. In classifying this summary, and arranging its chapters and Hadiths, I did not follow their original order (in Sahih Al-Bukhari), so that the categorization aligns with the language and circumstances of this era, and the arrangement matches the purpose and goal of this summary. You will find it organized in a way that quickly guides the student to find what they seek. Therefore, it can be said that "Saba’ik Al-Bukhari" is a book specific to its method and style. Whoever compares the original and this summary will see the clear difference.
5. Imam Al-Bukhari repeated Hadith number (1) in seven places, with multiple narrations. I chose the most complete and perfect narration from them, and added an extra narration from the same Sahih, placing it between brackets like this [ ]. Hadith number (5) I added an extra narration from Imam Muslim’s narration, also placed between brackets [ ]. Hadith number (280) I quoted exactly as Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih.
6. In this book, I explained Saba’ik Al-Bukhari with a brief commentary that combines clarification of meanings and explanation of rulings, along with faith-based reflections and educational guidance that students of knowledge and educated youth in this era cannot do without. I divided the discussion of each Hadith into two parts:
a) The Pulse of the Hadith: a brief introduction mentioning the general topic of the Hadith, or the incident related to the Hadith, or the situation that prompted the Hadith.
b) The Guidance of the Hadith: in which I interpret the phrases of the Hadith, clarify the meanings of unfamiliar words, and extract benefits and rulings.
I hope I have succeeded in serving the Sunnah of the Prophet by summarizing this great book and explaining its Hadiths, making it easier to benefit from the knowledge, goodness, guidance, and light contained in Bukhari. I ask Allah Almighty to benefit its compiler and summarizer, its reader, and everyone involved in its dissemination. He is the best responsible.
And may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and companions.
