The marriage of pleasure, a Quranic perspective, new Taha Hamid Al-Dulaimin Marriage of pleasure.. a new Quranic perspective Taha Al-Dulaimi Introduction Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And prayers and peace be upon the noblest of messengers. Our Prophet Muhammad, who said: "Are you amazed at Saad's jealousy?! By Allah, I am more jealous than him, and Allah is more jealous than me. And because of Allah's jealousy, He has forbidden immoral acts, both apparent and hidden." [1] And upon his family, companions, and followers altogether. And after: Marriage of (pleasure) is one of the sexual relationships that enjoys acceptance in many circles of the Shia community, especially in religious cities such as Najaf, Karbala, Qom, Mashhad, among scholars and students of Hawza, and those surrounding and influenced by their ideas. In recent years, we have heard that this dangerous practice has begun—here in Iraq—to expand and spread until it has become practiced almost openly at the shrine attributed to Musa (Al-Kadhim) in Baghdad, as well as in other shrines. It has infiltrated university students in colleges and dormitories, especially among female students from Shia provinces. It has even reached the Sunni community! Three years ago, I was visiting a sheikh in Baghdad, and he showed me two large sheets filled with accusations from promoters of (pleasure), written by a Sunni girl university student! The sheikh said: This girl came to discuss (pleasure) with me, and from her discussion, it seemed she was inclined to accept it! But she was confused, scared, and disturbed. During the discussion, she tried with all her arguments to prove its legality! After some back and forth, and after I refuted her doubts, she confided her secret to me, revealing she was in a love relationship with a Shia student at the college, and the matter developed until he asked her to (be with him) under the pretext of (pleasure)! He, in all this, was beautifying the matter and trying to convince her of its legality, even hinting at marriage afterward.. until she almost fell into his trap, except for a remaining sense of modesty, religion, and fear, which prompted her to take the final step or risk. She wrote her doubts about the topic on those pages. I say: Does this girl represent a unique case? Or are there many of our Sunni girls like her?! How many have endured? And how many have fallen? Later, I heard about a Sunni girl in my city (Al-Mahmoudiya) who fell into the trap of a Shia young man from the city of (Thawra) in Baghdad, who had promised her marriage, and managed to deceive her under the pretext of marriage of pleasure! Then he left her—after she became pregnant by him—and fled without her knowing anything about him or where he lives! All this without her family’s knowledge, who are Sunnis!!! This, in addition to the spread of this phenomenon among the Shia, exploited by their preachers and scholars to attract the weak and naive to their sect. And their shameless claim that (pleasure) is one of the Sunnah of Islam, and that it existed during the time of Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) until Umar ibn Al-Khattab forbade it because of Ali ibn Abi Talib’s enjoyment of his sister in his house, and he stayed with her! When morning came, he told him himself that he enjoyed his sister in a trap of many tricks they claim Ali planned for Umar. Umar was upset, immediately went to the minbar, forbade it, and threatened the doer. The situation worsened after the Jewish-Persian Crusader occupation of the beloved homeland, due to security chaos and the collapse of state oversight—weak as it was—and due to Iranian migration to some Shia cities, especially Najaf and Karbala. Most of our people are still in sleep, excusing themselves with fear of sectarian agitation, as if no news has come nor revelation has descended! And I do not know where they go with Allah’s saying: (And Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, to make it clear to the people and not conceal it. But they cast it behind their backs and sold it for a small price. Evil is what they buy.) (Al-Imran: 187) and other divine revelations! Therefore, I saw it necessary to warn against this dangerous matter, so I delivered several sermons recorded on audio tapes. I also gave a lecture recorded on a video tape. I wrote a pamphlet named with the same name as this book. Then I decided to expand the topic further, but without lengthy detail that would make it inaccessible to the general readers. So I wrote this book, whose ideas have been haunting me for a long time, and many brothers have urged me to record and publish them. I kept delaying due to my busy schedule until Allah permitted, and thus this book was born—thanks be to Allah—using a new method I see as the strongest in suppressing falsehood and exposing its deceit because it is the method of the Great Quran. I discuss this dangerous topic primarily in light of the Quran. Then, after definitively ending its evil with the seal of the Quran, I may touch upon other aspects, but only after it becomes clear to every fair and sensible person that the matter has been settled and established firmly. May Allah, the Most High, make us among His people and His soldiers… who reject the distortion of the deviant, the false claimants, and the misinterpretation of the ignorant. Indeed, He is All-Hearing, Near. Friday, 15th of Muharram, 1425 AH, March 6, 2004
