Introduction
Praise be to Allah, who taught the Qur'an, created man, and taught him eloquence. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger sent to mankind and jinn.
As for what follows:
The issue of similarity in the Holy Qur'an is one of the topics that has sparked much debate in the past and present; it has been relied upon by those with malicious intent and critics of the Qur'an to stir doubts and suspicions among the general public and those lacking knowledge of the arts of eloquence and expression.
But from Allah’s wisdom is that this similarity in the verses of His Book is among the strongest reasons that lead to recognizing His inimitability and great eloquence; for no one who criticizes the Book of Allah—whether out of ignorance or knowledge—except that specialists in the sciences of the Qur'an stand up to examine it and uncover the secrets of its eloquence and clarity to dispel the doubts of these poor misguided ones, whose arrows turn back upon their quivers.
Those who seek to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, and Allah refuses except to perfect His light, even if the disbelievers dislike. [Surat At-Tawbah]
Every doubt directed at the Book reveals aspects of its beautiful expression, hidden eloquence, and concealed clarity. If not for the attacks of critics and the plots of envious ones, the hands would not extend to uncover and remove its veil.
This great volume has clarified many aspects of the goodness in the verses of the similar parts of the Book, refuting the doubts brought by those deviating and correcting the slips of scholars.
Methodology of verification and our work on the book:
1- We have checked the text against the manuscript copies of the book, which will be explained below.
2- We have numbered it with appropriate punctuation marks.
3- Verification of Qur'anic evidence.
4- Verification of prophetic hadith evidence from well-known Hadith books.
5- Verification of poetic evidence from its anthologies and sources.
6- Explanation of the meanings of strange words.
7- Translation of the notable figures mentioned in the book.
- Comprehensive scientific indexes of topics and evidence.
Valuable teaching tool.
Manuscripts and sources relied upon in the verification of the book:
We based the verification on several printed and manuscript copies, including:
1- The copy from Dar Al-Kutub Al-Ilmiyah, verified by Abdul Qadir Ata, marked with the symbol (K).
2- The copy from Dar Al-Fadila, reviewed by Ahmed Abdul Tawaab Awad, marked with the symbol (F).
3- The copy verified by Sayyid Al-Jumaili, marked with the symbol (J).
4- The copy verified by Ahmed Ezzedine Khalaf Allah, published by Dar Al-Wafa, marked with the symbol (A).
5- We benefited from manuscript copies in the Azhar Library under numbers: 156, 117, 121, 149, especially the last two for their quality. Our main reliance was on the Azhar copy kept under number (39), a tafsir in the Qur'an sciences manuscript, number (192), marked with the symbol (Z). It is a good copy, copied in the year 873 AH, consisting of 80 pages measuring 23.14 cm.
6- As for other Azhar copies, we did not rely heavily on them unless they contained additional benefit, in which case we note: in a copy, so-and-so, with clarification.
