Minhaj al-Talibin Author: Muhyi al-Din Yahya ibn Sharf al-Nawawi Reviser: Abdul Razzaq Shuhud al-Najdi Publisher: Dar al-Fayhaa - Damascus Book Format: Artistic binding, glossy paper Publication Date: 1443-2022 AD Book Size: 17×24 Number of Pages: 679 Minhaj al-Talibin and 'Umdat al-Muftin, supplemented with the notes of al-Minhaj by the compiler, along with the book Tuhfat al-Muhtaj to the proofs of al-Minhaj by Imam ibn al-Muqallin, added to them are the notes and restrictions of Imam al-Sharbini in the book Mughnī al-Muhtāj | Muhyi al-Din Abi Zakariya Yahya ibn Sharf al-Nawawi The reason for prioritizing this over other texts is because it contains jurisprudential issues, investigation, and precision that please the successful; thus, it is the jewel of texts. All scholars agreed on its precedence and superiority, so it spread like light, and scholars' efforts to explain, organize, summarize, and refine it continued, and their care for it from all sides was evident. Suffice it to say that only the commentators on it numbered over one hundred, which in reality is due to several reasons: First: The status of its author among scholars, and his mastery in the jurisprudence of religion, praised by the noble. Second: The righteousness and sincerity of its author, and the blessings, asceticism, and piety mentioned in biographical works. No Shafi'i student has read it, discussed it, or studied it except that God clothed him with garments of acceptance and fame, and he wore the garment of widespread recognition. No student who read it with awareness ever failed, and he rose high in the ladder of jurisprudence until the saying spread: "Whoever reads al-Minhaj... is inspired." Third: Imam al-Nawawi — the skillful investigator — summarized it from "Al-Muharrar" by Imam al-Rafi'i, may Allah have mercy on him, and added to it some newly emerging issues. Fourth: Imam al-Nawawi adopted a captivating, unique, and concise method in his compilation and presentation of the Hanafi and the adopted views, summarizing the methods of disagreement in words, and clarifying in the introduction of "al-Minhaj" its terminology, thus equipping the student with jurisprudential knowledge and the chosen terminology with ease and complete clarity. "Al-Minhaj" is therefore the distilled essence of Shafi'i jurisprudence and the summary of the school without dispute. Given the fame and position of this book among Shafi'i jurists, it deserved to be published in a splendid edition befitting its value, as this would encourage long-term engagement with it. The Dar al-Minhaj committed to publishing it in a scholarly, verified edition, based on authentic manuscript sources. After diligent research and exploration of manuscript centers, several handwritten copies were found, including an ancient one distinguished by authenticity and accuracy, as it bears certifications by famous scholars such as al-Hafiz al-Iraqi and others. This copy was circulated among scholars, read by jurists, and commented on by revisers, making it worthy of consideration, in addition to comparing it with other copies for verification.
