To Sheikh Dr. Abdul Karim Al-Khudair A word from the Foundation of the Sunnah Signs Praise be to Allah, who raised His people with knowledge and chose them, and bequeathed them the knowledge of the Book, and may Allah's peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions, whom He selected from their beginning to their end, and upon the followers and those who follow them with goodness until the Day of Judgment and followed them. As for what follows: It is not hidden from anyone the high status and excellent position of the scholars, for they are the heirs of the prophets, the stars of the sky, the adornment of the world, and through them the religion is upheld. Abu Ad-Darda, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that he heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say: "Whoever takes a path seeking knowledge in it, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise. And the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, out of satisfaction with him. And the seeker of knowledge is seeking forgiveness for him from those in the heavens and the earth, even the fish in the water. And the virtue of the scholar over the worshiper is like the moon over the other planets. The scholars are the heirs of the prophets. The prophets did not leave dinars or dirhams as inheritance; rather, they left knowledge. Whoever takes it has taken a great share." Among the scholars who dedicated their time to teaching and spreading knowledge is the virtuous Sheikh, the scholar Abdul Karim bin Abdullah Al-Khudair, may Allah preserve him and benefit us through him. He is known among the scholars and students for his mastery, extensive knowledge, good investigation, and broad awareness. Allah granted the Sheikh long ago the success to explain the books of the scholars in various sciences and to comment on them, explaining them with comprehensive, beneficial explanations, enriched by his broad knowledge and understanding of the contents of the books—especially the lengthy ones and their different editions—making these explanations popular among students of knowledge of different levels. Allah also established the Foundation of the Sunnah Signs to serve and spread the Sheikh’s knowledge since its founding in 1433 AH, through multiple electronic and satellite channels. And now, by Allah’s grace, it completes the first phase with printed publications, to crown its projects and organize its chain. It is worth noting that this book is not authored by the Sheikh, but rather an audio explanation that was transcribed, organized, and served as a scientific service with the Sheikh’s permission. Due to the great difficulty in converting audio output into printed books and in recognition of the responsibility entrusted to the foundation, and seeking precision without unnecessary complication, the foundation devised a refined plan—approved by the Sheikh, may Allah preserve him—to produce high-quality books that satisfy, God willing, students of knowledge and enthusiasts. The stages of work on the Sheikh’s books were as follows: First: Describing the transcript of the audio explanation and matching it. Second: Arranging the explanation to suit the book, without altering the Sheikh’s words. When there are confusing issues, they are presented to the Sheikh—may Allah preserve him. Third: Formatting the text and placing appropriate headings between brackets. Fourth: Extracting hadiths and sayings, attributing opinions and schools to their owners, and providing scientific service to the book. Fifth: Creating a detailed index of topics to facilitate access to scientific benefits for the reader. Sixth: Reviewing the language of the book and ensuring the accuracy of the text from grammatical and spelling errors that may occur during work. Seventh: Reviewing the book by a specialist in the subject to ensure the correctness of the scientific material after the researchers’ work. Eighth: Approving the book for printing by the foundation’s scientific advisors. In this joyful occasion of printing this book (Tahrir Al-Safahat bi Sharh Al-Waraqaat), we thank the Sheikh—may Allah preserve him—for what he has presented and continues to present to students of knowledge. May Allah grant him great reward and recompense, bless his knowledge, work, and life, benefit Islam and Muslims with his knowledge, and we praise the work team at the Foundation of the Sunnah Signs for their great effort in producing and publishing the book, as well as the scientific advisors and reviewers, and everyone who contributed and participated in producing the book. May Allah reward them well and bless their efforts. And continuous thanks to the pioneering institution: the Waqf of Saad and Abdulaziz Al-Mousa Foundation, for their contribution to supporting the publication of this book. We ask Allah for success and guidance, and we call on all scholars and students of knowledge wherever they are to extend a helping hand, quickly provide feedback, and suggest corrections to any errors that may occur in the printed or to-be-printed explanations of the Sheikh. Indeed, a person is often helped by his brothers, and Allah is the grant of success that He blesses efforts and accepts them. All praise be to Allah, by whose blessings good deeds are completed, and peace and blessings be upon the noblest of prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions altogether.
