Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen
Indeed, the book "Zad Al-Mustaqni' fi Ikhtisar Al-Muqni'" is a book with few words, many meanings. He summarized it from "Al-Muqni'", and limited himself to one statement, which is the most correct from the school of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal. He did not deviate from the well-known position of the later scholars except a little.
Beginners among the students of knowledge are passionate about it according to the Hanbali school, and many of them memorized it by heart.
Our Sheikh, Abdul-Rahman bin Nasser bin Saadi — may Allah have mercy on him — used to urge us to memorize it, and he taught us from it.
We benefited greatly from it, and praise be to Allah, and we began teaching students in the Grand Mosque in Uyunza, by explaining its words, clarifying its meanings, and mentioning the most correct opinion with its evidence or explanation.
Students paid attention to it, recorded it, and wrote it down.
When it became widely circulated among people through recordings and notes, the two noble sheikhs, Dr. Suleiman bin Abdullah Abu Al-Khail and Dr. Khalid bin Ali Al-Mashiqh, published it in a book called: "Al-Sharh Al-Mumti' 'ala Zad Al-Mustaqni'".
They extracted its hadiths, numbered its verses, and added comments they saw appropriate. They printed the first edition, may Allah reward them with goodness.
Since the explanation through reporting does not equal the explanation through elaboration — in terms of choosing words, refining expressions, and covering the topic comprehensively — it became clear that it is necessary to reconsider the book, and to refine and organize it.
And indeed, that was done — praise be to Allah —; we removed what was unnecessary, added what was needed, and kept the rest as it was.
The introduction of this edition was by the one who read it to us, Dr. Khalid bin Ali Al-Mashiqh, may Allah reward him.
Then, our brother Omar bin Sulaiman Al-Hafyan worked on extracting its hadiths and correcting the printing experiments, may Allah reward him.
