The Pouring Rain of Good Words and the Raising of the Good Speech | Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya
The Pouring Rain of Good Words is a book by Sheikh Ibn Al-Jawziyya in which he explains the Hadiths of supplications and remembrances that are mentioned in the book "Kalim Al-Tayyib" authored by his teacher Ibn Taymiyyah. Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyya introduced his book with introductions on the virtue and importance of remembrance, then listed seventy-five chapters on supplications and effects: which a Muslim should not leave, remembrances before sleep and upon waking, the Adhan, entering cemeteries, rain, sighting the crescent moon, grief, losing something, solar and lunar eclipses, marriage and congratulations, and many more.
Scholars differed on the naming of the book, because Ibn Qayyim himself named the book with two different names in two places in his writings:
Al-Kalim Al-Tayyib Al-Salih (The Good and Righteous Words): Ibn Qayyim mentioned in his book "The Path of the Two Migrations and the Gate of Happiness" (p. 76): "And we mentioned in the book Al-Kalim Al-Tayyib Al-Salih some benefits of remembrance..."
And Ibn Qayyim also mentioned it with this name in his work "Bina' Tabaqat Al-Hanabilah" (2/450).
The Pouring Rain and the Elevation of the Good Words | Ibn Qayyim, in his book "Al-Salikoon" (2/448), also used another name: "And we mentioned in the remembrance nearly one hundred books under the title 'The Pouring Rain and the Elevation of the Good Words,' we mentioned there..."
Haji Khalifa also referenced it with this name in his book "Kashf Al-Zunun" (2/1994).
The Pouring Rain of Good Words is a name that was published and spread by publishers, and it is also found in the introduction of Ahmed Ubaid to "Rawdat Al-Muhibbin," and was followed by Al-Faqih in his introduction to "Ighathat Al-Ghawth."
The phrase "The Pouring Rain of Good Words" appears in "Kashf Al-Zunun," and it is recorded in one of the handwritten manuscripts.
