To Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen Introduction In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate Introduction Indeed, all praise is due to Allah, we praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of our souls and from the bad deeds. Whom Allah guides, there is none to misguide him; and whom He misguides, there is none to guide him. I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. May Allah send blessings upon him, his family, his companions, and those who follow them with goodness until the Day of Judgment, and grant them abundant peace. After: The scholars of Islam—may Allah have mercy on them—have paid great attention to the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in narration, understanding, memorization, explanation of its words, clarification of its meanings, and deriving rulings and benefits from it. Among these scholars is our esteemed Sheikh, our teacher, Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, who had a great concern for the Sunnah. He held many scientific lessons to explain it, relying on evidence and texts from the Book and the Sunnah. His explanations contained abundant knowledge, broad jurisprudence, comprehensive principles, and a distinguished methodology in deriving rulings and benefits, with ease of style and away from pretentiousness. One of his lessons in this field was his explanations of the book "Bulugh al-Maram min Adillat al-Ahkam" by the Hafiz Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, who died in the year 852 AH. Allah blessed it with His vast mercy and satisfaction and granted him entry into His spacious gardens. This was during long periods of his sitting for teaching at his university in Unaizah. Here is its statement: 1- A detailed explanation after Maghrib prayer, which he began in the year 1400 AH and completed in 1417 AH. 2- Then he repeated the explanation of the book once more, starting on Monday night (11/5/1417 AH), and finished with the hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, about the Tashahhud, from the chapter on the description of prayer, on Tuesday night (5/2/1421 AH). 3- A brief commentary he delivered to the congregation of the mosque, beginning in the year 1401 AH, at the Mosque of the Commander of the Believers, Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, in Hayy al-Dulay'a in Unaizah, between the Adhan and Iqama for the Isha prayer. 4- A brief commentary he delivered to the congregation of the mosque, beginning in the year 1417 AH, at his university in Unaizah, immediately after Asr prayer. When the beginnings of these explanations were issued in the year 1416 AH under the title: "Fath Dhi al-Jalali wal-Ikram bi Sharh Bulugh al-Maram," our esteemed Sheikh, may Allah have mercy on him, saw fit to review it, and he began doing so until he reached hadith number 102 from the book of purification. All his corrections written in his own handwriting—may Allah have mercy on him—were included in this edition. In order to maximize benefit from these explanations and to implement the rules, principles, and instructions set by our Sheikh, may Allah have mercy on him, for publishing his scholarly heritage, the scientific section of the institution undertook reviewing the book in this edition, benefiting from the notes of dear readers on the first edition, then preparing it for printing and publishing. We ask Allah, the Most High, to make this work purely for His Face, beneficial to His servants, and to reward our esteemed Sheikh for Islam and Muslims with the best reward, to multiply his repentance and reward, and to elevate his rank among the guided. Indeed, He is Hearing, Near, and Responding. May Allah send blessings and peace upon His servant and Messenger, the Seal of the Prophets, and the Leader of the Pious, and the Master of the First and Last, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family, his companions, and those who follow them with goodness until the Day of Judgment.
