Six reflections for those seeking salvation Five reflections for those wanting salvation The land is not built except by its inhabitants, and religion is not established except by its people, and whenever they establish it, Allah will help them, no matter who their enemies are. Allah, the Most High, said: {O you who have believed, if you support Allah, He will support you and establish your feet. And those who disbelieve, for them is destruction, and He will make their deeds worthless.} And since religion is not established except by its people, then it is upon us — the people of Islam and those carrying its banner — to first do our own selves, to be worthy of leadership and guidance, and a place for success and correctness. And it is more appropriate for us to start from the beginning and reflect on our youth and what they are upon of ideas and actions, so that we develop what is good and correct what is corrupt, because today’s youth are the men of tomorrow, and they are the foundation upon which the future of the nation is built. If the youth are upright, and their righteousness is based on strong pillars of religion and morals, then the nation will have a bright future, and its elders will be righteous caliphs, God willing. Questions??? Have you reflected on this man whose back is stooped, his hair has turned white, his steps have slowed, his strength has waned, his eyebrows have fallen, and his teeth are scattered? He moves with difficulty, sits with difficulty, sleeps with difficulty, prays with difficulty, fasts with difficulty, eats with difficulty, drinks with difficulty, and fulfills his needs with difficulty!! Have you reflected on this man? Was he not a young man like you? Living a youth’s life… walking their walk… playing their play… This man thought that the days of youth are long, and the strength of youth is overwhelming, and the look of youth is proud over nights and days!! And today… after his age has grown, his body has weakened, and his illnesses have diversified, he weeps over what his life of play and amusement has wasted, weeps over the strength of youth that has passed, and over the vitality that has been replaced by old age and senility, and wishes he could regain his youth and strength to spend them in obedience to Allah and His pleasure… But… but what? I think you know the answer… for you are a wise mind, a fluent tongue, strong muscles, and eloquent in expression, and that is why I chose you to read my message… It is for you, not for anyone else. Yes, I want you… you… the one I have been searching for all long years… the one whose heart is tender with thought, and whose heart is full of mercy for him… I chose you because you are the grandson of dignity, the owner of the field of pride and ambition, you who have in your heart a tree with roots firm and branches in the sky… I write these words from a heart full of love for you alone… words are drops of blood, sighs of the soul, tears of the eye, and heart’s sighs… And to know with certainty that what comes out of the heart, reaches the heart, and produces much… The soul’s talk to the souls flows *** and is understood by hearts effortlessly. Hasty reflections… and hot words… You have no gathering except that you are the reader of them… and then… First: Without a title?! What made Abu Talib — the uncle of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him — remain forever in a pit of fire after he was so close to Islam?!! If you know the answer, move on to the second reflection… since you have understood the meaning, otherwise increase your knowledge… It is my blessed brother — the friend of evil: Abu Jahl — may Allah curse him — and friends are divided into two types: A sincere, loyal friend who, when you need him, is a true help, and when you consult him, is a good advisor, and if he sees you deviating, he shows you the right way and the correct path, and if he sits with you, he is a good righteous companion who broadens your knowledge and preserves your time with what is beneficial. His qualities are more than can be counted. Allah, the Most High, said: {On that day, friends will be enemies to one another except the righteous.} [Az-Zukhruf: 67] And the second type: a friend of ease and hardship, who, when he hopes for a favor or need from you, is a close friend, whose tongue is sweeter than honey and whose heart is like a wolf’s, deceiving the truths, turning good into evil and evil into good, leading you towards misguidance and misery, and he is inevitably disowning you, in this world and the Hereafter. Allah, the Most High, said: {And the wrongdoer will bite his hands, saying, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way." "Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken such and such as a friend."} [Al-Furqan: 27-28] Choose for yourself what you prefer: either enmity with innocence or close friendship. Second: And Satan wept!! Yes, Satan wept when he heard it, and you have the right to find comfort if you hear it… but before you find comfort and rejoice with it… you must take an oath upon yourself — and this is your usual way — to act upon it so that you will be happy and not neglect what makes you happy and amused… And now it is time for you to listen… Allah, the Most High, said: {And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves, remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins — and who can forgive sins except Allah — and they do not persist in what they have done while they know.} [Al-Imran: 135-136] The matter, in short, my young brother, is a bold and courageous decision you make, and after that, your life will change automatically, and what comes after it will be easy. Can you be unable to make this decision? I do not think so, and you are the brave young man in all your life… The right time to make this decision is this very moment… Any delay in making this decision, which renews your life and rectifies your deeds, means remaining in misery and darkness. This decision is a complete transfer from life to life, from darkness to light, from misery to happiness, from distress to ease… So hasten to take the decision of repentance quickly, so that Satan and his allies will weep. Third: Capital… The capital of a Muslim in this life is time, and time is more precious and more valuable than money. And here is the proof: If a dying person placed all his money to increase his lifespan by one day… would that be granted? And the way to grow the capital is by preserving it in what benefits, such as reciting the Qur’an, reading beneficial books, increasing brotherhood in Allah, and protecting oneself from what harms from play and entertainment, and then watching Allah in all fields, times, and places, for Allah sees, hears, and knows what is in your heart. You are responsible for your time, whatever you spend it on, and time is limited, and breaths are numbered. Seize your precious life, and keep your valuable times. Do not waste them without work, and do not squander your hours without reward, for you will be held accountable and responsible, and you will be rewarded for what you have done in them… Fourth: Be a contributor… A seeker of worldly gains contributes in every opportunity, even with little… And there is no doubt that contributing in the field of goodness and all its doors is a great virtue and a big reward, through words, actions, and money. For you do not know what will forgive you or what will be accepted from you… The Messenger, peace be upon him, said: "Do not belittle any good deed, even if it is meeting your brother with a cheerful face." (Narrated by Muslim) And he said: "Fear the fire, even with half a date." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim) And he said: "Indeed, a servant speaks a word of pleasure for Allah, not paying attention to it, and it raises him in ranks." (Narrated by Bukhari) Fifth: The end… Perhaps the best way to conclude our message is with a great verse that narrates a journey… and what journey… a travel, and what a travel… it is his saying, the Most High: {Every soul shall taste death, and you will only be given your full recompense on the Day of Resurrection. So whoever is removed from the Fire and admitted to Paradise has indeed succeeded. And the life of this world is only the enjoyment of delusion.} [Al-Imran: 185] Yes, my brother… it is your journey to the Hereafter… It is the travel whose end we ask Allah to be Paradise… I entrust you to Allah, the One whose trusts are never lost…
