Product description
Koviram 10/10 mg tablets
Active substance
Perindopril 10 mg / Amlodipine 10 mg tablets
Koviram tablets for treating high blood pressure and stable coronary artery disease, as the medication contains two active substances, which are perindopril and amlodipine. Perindopril is from the group of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, and amlodipine is from calcium channel blockers. They work to dilate blood vessels, thus blood flows easily.
How Perindopril and Amlodipine Tablets Work
Perindopril belongs to the "ACE inhibitors" group, a class of drugs primarily used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. They work by causing relaxation and dilation of blood vessels as well as reducing blood volume, leading to lower blood pressure and decreased oxygen consumption by the heart.
Additionally, perindopril prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and prevents the breakdown of vasodilating prostaglandins, which reduces vasoconstriction regulated by angiotensin II and promotes vasodilation.
Amlodipine prevents the flow of calcium ions into cells, with a greater effect on smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, leading to vasodilation and reduced vascular resistance to blood flow, thus lowering blood pressure.
Medical Uses of Koviram Tablets
Used to treat high blood pressure
High blood pressure is a common condition where the long-term force of blood against the artery walls is high enough to eventually cause health problems, such as heart diseases.
Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of deadly and non-deadly cardiovascular diseases, especially stroke and myocardial infarction.
