Decetil 50 mg tablets Active ingredient Pinaverium bromide Decetil tablets are a medication for treating pain, disturbances, and irritable bowel syndrome. The medication contains the active ingredient pinaverium bromide, which belongs to the calcium channel blocker group and is classified among antispasmodic medications. Pinaverium works by closing calcium channels, which leads to muscle relaxation and reduction of spasms, thereby alleviating pain. It effectively affects the muscles of the intestines, colon, gallbladder, and biliary ducts. It also speeds up gastric emptying and reduces colon spasms with various foods. Therefore, Decetil is used to treat irritable bowel syndrome and functional disturbances in the biliary ducts. How to use Decetil tablets The usual dose for adults is 50 mg three times a day (total daily dose 150 mg). The dose can be increased to a maximum of 100 mg three times a day (maximum total daily dose 300 mg). It is recommended to take the tablets with a glass of water during meals or light snacks. The tablets should not be swallowed while lying down or immediately before sleep. Doses may be adjusted in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions. If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to the hospital immediately. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is time for the next dose. Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the missed one. Side effects of Decetil tablets Mainly mild digestive disturbances that may be related to the disease, such as stomach pain and/or fullness (0.8%), nausea (0.5%), constipation (0.4%), heartburn (0.3%), bloating (0.3%), diarrhea (0.2%).
