A being crashing into itself, author: Salem Adel Al-Shihab

This short story collection is not an original work. The meaning of originality here is its complete independence from what preceded it in short story literature and literature in general, in terms of form, artistic tools used, and the basic structure of the text. And that is acceptable according to Borges, who sees that "the writer must draw his writings from old works, because the writer, as Dr. Johnson noted, does not want to be indebted to his contemporaries." But that is not a problem for me, as I owe a lot to contemporary writers, starting with Mansour Al-Ateeq and Mohammed Al-Aradi to Patrick Brun and Slavoj Žižek, whose work was an excellent entry point for understanding Hegel and Jacques Lacan and the duality of self/object, which was a main focus in many stories.
