About love, by Stendhal

Product description
In this book, Stendhal does not present love as an indirect offering like clear, pure flowing water running from the spring of the pure soul and flowing in the channels of the self and its pathways, carrying emotions, feelings, sensations, and reactions, and hindered in its course by inherited customs and followed traditions. This love, which he borrows its nobility from the nobility of the soul, encounters the sincere rush of it with what stirs in the soul of fear, shyness, modesty, decency, and the constraints of social and religious traditions, which political regimes favor, adopt, and impose by force and tyranny, along with hatred, malice, envy, jealousy, arrogance, pride, affectation, pretense, artificiality, vulgarity, obsession, possession, and ownership. All of this he mentions in his book. But not in a dry, strict, and constrained scientific style, but with complete freedom and ease, supported by examples and stories from reality. He unleashes his thoughts to organize as he wishes and as he desires, in sentences and paragraphs, often intertwined and interconnected like mixing feelings with sensations, emotions with reactions. Every reader perceives it as suits him and fits his ability, capacity, and competence.
