The false adult life, by: Elena Ferrante

Giovana lives, the only daughter of two teachers, a happy childhood in the upscale neighborhoods of Upper Naples. But she is shocked one day upon hearing a conversation between her parents, in which her father compares her to Vittoria, the ugly and petty aunt. Thus begins Giovana's search for Vittoria in the streets of Lower Naples, tinged with vulgarity and baseness. Between the top and the bottom, Giovana swings, sometimes falling and sometimes climbing, exposing the false adult life, gasping for answers that may inspire a way to salvation.
