The girl and the cigarette
A sign of the signs of dystopian literature (the literature of the corrupt city) in the twenty-first century. But it is a satirical dystopia that lightly exposes the hastening of a world of ideals, dreams, and values until lightness becomes the counterpart of heaviness and the creature becomes unbearable.
A novel published in 2005, yet it reached the level of general and sometimes detailed prediction of what would happen in Syria, for example, in the early years of the second decade, as the writer depicts scenes of cinematic terrorists with their victims, recording a narrative and intuitive precedence of what the whole world would see later on television screens.
A cigarette saves the life of a condemned prisoner, who then comes out of the depths of prison into the arenas of glory and fame with the support of the tobacco industry lobbies, and a cigarette turns a worker’s life upside down, causing him to fall to the lowest depths.
Between these and that, many messages are sent by the writer: condemning social hypocrisy, as he dedicates slogans of “care for childhood” instead of “totalitarian ideas.” And calling for attention to a human model almost forgotten: the productive old man, from whose shoulder humanity feeds, and who gains nothing but neglect.
