No sky above the city, author: Maysara Al-Hadi

A novel No Sky Over the City, the latest creations of the young writer Maysara Al-Hadi, who won the Dubai Cultural Award, sheds light on the accumulations of modernity and its effects on a small city on the banks of the Nile. The narrator, who is no longer inspired by anything but the beauty of the sky, attacks the ugliness in which the city is drowning, and tries to attract people's attention to what remains of beauty, but they are immersed in their pursuit of more ugliness and falsehood. The novel takes place in an imaginary parallel non-realistic time closer to dystopia but it is a realistic dystopia. How does modernity and the spread of accompanying ugliness affect a small rural city that has just come out into the world? Number of pages: 152
