Product description
Capitalism is on the verge of suicide, threatening to take us with it. Will what comes after be a great socialist utopia? Or the beginning of a new dark age? The book "The Worst Is Yet to Come" explores the inevitable possibility that no liberation renaissance will come from the offspring of neoliberal capitalism, but rather a much worse world, unless a miracle occurs based on our awareness of what is happening around us. This is known by the wealthy executives who are preparing for it by buying secluded, secure resorts and shelters in New Zealand. It is also known by politicians, who in turn are preparing for it by turning countries into war machines ready to act. As for scientists, they are either shouting about the danger of the upcoming environmental catastrophe or taking the opportunity to conduct reckless genetic experiments. The animal kingdom is retreating silently in a terrifying and suspicious manner. The thesis of this book is that we may not have reached the bottom yet, but are on the brink of something worse. Perhaps our chances of survival are very slim, but there is still a possibility that our descendants will survive the consequences of capitalism, only if we keep a realistic picture of the nightmare ahead in mind. And only by arming ourselves with "revolutionary pessimism" can we prepare for it. The apocalypse will undoubtedly be disappointing.
