Criticism and truth

Criticism is not the science, as one deals with meanings and the other produces them, and criticism occupies a middle ground between science and reading. It gives a language for pure speech that is read, as well as provides (clearer things) for the language of myth from which the literary effect was formed, and which science addresses. The relationship between criticism and the literary effect is a relationship of meaning in form, with the critic not able to claim "translation" of the effect, especially more clearly, because there is nothing clearer than it; what he can do is to "generate" a specific meaning derived from the form of the literary effect. The critic doubles the meanings and makes a second language surface above the first language of the effect, meaning he produces a cohesion of signs. Generally, it is a matter of a kind of distortion as long as it is clear that the literary effect, on one hand, does not at all accept submission to mere reflection (it is not a mirror-like thing like an apple or a box).
