This book was written in French twice, the first as a doctoral thesis in arts and human sciences from the Sorbonne, and the second, after revision, in the form of a published book by Dar (Akt Sud), and some parts were reviewed at the time of its translation into Arabic to be issued in this Arabic edition dedicated to the Arab reader. This book discusses Gibran in his human vision and his personal sensitivity within the Arab literary context in which he immerses himself from head to toe, as a witness to a multifaceted cultural issue, which we still address today at its core: Who is the Arab human being, that is, the Arab by culture regardless of his religious, ethnic, national, or ideological affiliation? And how is he formed in the age of modernity, faithful to his historical self and loyal to his open human future with all its possibilities? Therefore, we see Gibran proposing an approach and paving a way without claiming to hold the truth; he is content with being a creator who has found a path from the Arab self to modernity, and from universality to enrich Arab culture and guide future creators to some sources of creativity.
