It is known that one of the most important factors determining social and economic growth in arid areas is water and soil, and that the basic elements of any modern human society, namely social and economic growth, population growth, and agricultural productivity, are interconnected. Therefore, the deterioration of land productivity as well as the scarcity of water resources pose a threat to citizens' health and community development. What confirms this is what historical studies have shown, indicating that desertification was one of the main causes of the collapse of ancient civilizations, such as the Greek, Nabataean, Babylonian, and Tadmorian civilizations, among others, which arose in or on the borders of arid regions.
