Product description
The general idea from which the book starts is: that engaging in intellectual research requires continuous and effective communication with philosophy, to deepen knowledge on one hand, develop the ability to critique on the second, grow expertise in uncovering the universals of issues and their metaphysics, judgments, objectives, and goals on the third, and on the fourth, to possess the ability to connect sciences and knowledge based on the principle that alongside every science there is philosophy, and that there is no science without philosophy. The book deals with the history of Islamic philosophy through studying six works, which are among the earliest, most prominent, and most important works, and the most famous in the twentieth century in the Arab field, which have become today fundamental references in this field. Perhaps the most important feature of this book is the linking between these works, introducing their methodologies, exploring the relationships between them, and uncovering the differences and contradictions—intellectual, historical, and methodological—between them. This is the first book, as far as I know, to undertake this task. The book consists of six chapters:
Chapter One: De Boer... and the methodology of studying the history of Islamic philosophy.
Chapter Two: Mustafa Abdul Razak... and the methodology of studying the history of Islamic philosophy.
Chapter Three: Ibrahim Madkour... and the methodology of studying the history of Islamic philosophy.
Chapter Four: Ali Sami Al-Nashar... and the methodology of studying the history of Islamic philosophy.
Chapter Five: Henry Corbin... and the methodology of studying the history of Islamic philosophy.
Chapter Six: Majid Fakhri... and the methodology of studying the history of Islamic philosophy.
