The opening editorial in my early days in Australia, where I spent most of my twenties, my friends used to insist that we take the "Tourist drive" whenever we went on a trip. This road — which exists under different names around the world — is sometimes the only way to reach certain destinations, but at other times it is a second option — and a longer distance — for those who enjoy experiencing breathtaking nature. That concept was entirely new to me. And when I returned to my homeland, specifically to Abu Dhabi, I was delighted by the beauty of "Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street" (E12) which passes through a group of islands; because of the tourist experience it offers among mangrove forests on those islands. This street is the only option to go to some destinations, but if the heart of the capital is your goal, it is the "most beautiful" choice; playing a natural symphony that ends at the mother island, Abu Dhabi. The existence of this type of roads is an extension of the solid infrastructure that allows viewing the natural treasures of a place and contributing to their preservation; among them, mangrove forests. We highlighted in the May 2022 issue of your magazine the historical and current role that Abu Dhabi plays in preserving these trees; and in the cover story of this issue, we present the efforts made at the national level in general to plant 100 million mangrove trees by 2030. This aligns with the "National Initiative for Zero Emissions" by 2050, in pursuit of achieving the country's centennial goals in 2071. When "our Emirates" create a success story, they may celebrate for a day or some days, then they quickly return to work and build on that success to achieve further successes. The preservation of mangroves is one of those examples established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan at the level of Abu Dhabi Emirate, and today’s wise leadership continues on the same path by expanding it across the country. As we follow the events of the "Conference of the Parties" (COP 28) in Dubai, amidst the atmosphere of the 52nd "Union Festival," we are living a state similar to "cosmic conjunction"... where the past, present, and future align on one line to form a clear national vision. In this issue, you will read: The lungs of the Emirates... Mangrove trees, our safe haven from carbon 2023 in pictures War against carbon Emirates' mangroves
