Product description

The books that attempt to present art history in our Arab countries are still lacking in providing a comprehensive and sequential picture of the history of fine arts and architecture. They are often brief and hurried and do not achieve the minimum of spiritual and aesthetic fulfillment desired by the art student or the specialized or general reader. And how much we hoped for the opportunity to present extensive and detailed atlases equipped with colored images and explanations for the history of art through all its historical stages, beginning from prehistoric times and reaching our present age. And now, the opportunity has arisen to present this project. The art history project provides a solid foundation for understanding a comprehensive image of the arts, beliefs, and ideas created by humanity throughout its history, and enables us to sense the aesthetic sense that humans have enjoyed since ancient times. With this description, it gives us the appropriate opportunity to contemplate human history through its spirit and beauty, not through its wars, kings, leaders, and the blood that was shed in the vain adventures of politics, false ambitions, and illusory glory. Humanity in art history purifies itself from its evil and the dust of its wars to emerge shining on the path of beauty, elevating it to the ranks of true humanity. The rich opportunity to explore the history of art (in all its stages) and then teach it to students at the University of Darnah for five years gave us a good chance to prepare initial lectures on this history. Then, the days overwhelmed us with the opportunity to expand on this subject, write it in an academic, detailed manner, and enhance it with suitable images and diagrams. As we see it and as we have tried to write some of its aspects, the history of the spirit comprises a set of four harmonious historical packages: (the history of art, the history of religions, the history of literature, and the history of thought). We have tried to delve into most of them to grasp the pulse of humans as they pass through the darkness of time with their luminous spirits. The history of art is academically divided into five major stages: (ancient, old, medieval, modern, contemporary). We found that each of these stages can be presented in two connected books, thus enabling us to present the history of art through ten successive books.
