Product description

Number 440 February 2022 in the series "Global Creations" issued by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters in Kuwait, the book "New York Notebook" by the Spanish poet José Yero was published, with an Arabic translation by Ahmed Al-Sabban, reviewed by Shawqi Al-Reis. It is worth noting that the poet José Yero passed away at the end of 2002 at the age of 88. In this unique book, he establishes a multi-faceted dialogue with the American city of New York. José Yero's poetry occupies a central place in Spanish poetry during the second half of the last century, from the publication of his first poetic works in 1947 titled "Strangers We Are in Our Homeland," up to his latest release, the collection "New York Notebook" published in 1998. Between them are other important collections, including "Joy," "With Stones and Winds," "Generation 42," "What I Know About Myself," "The Hallucinations Book," and "Memoir." These works have shaped a radiant, renewed, and rich poetic journey, and, along with other books, earned him several awards such as the National Criticism Award twice, the Adonis Award, the Prince of Asturias Award, the National Spanish Literature Award, and the Queen Sofia Award for Poetry. Thus, José Yero deserved the title of the greatest post-war Spanish poet by nationality, and his remarkable success is not only due to the originality of his writings but also to his revolutionary history against dictatorship, enduring imprisonment in defense of freedom.
