Product description
The legend represents a record of consciousness and unconsciousness at the same time, and therefore reading ancient history without the legend is an incomplete process, considering the legend as the most perfect record of thought and its reality in continuing the primitive stage, when it was trying to interpret the surrounding existence, and trying to read and change the social reality. This, of course, along with what the legend conveys to us of the fingerprints and impressions of the collective psyche upon it, and it is collective because no one can claim the right to author it. It is of unknown origin and author, and sometimes origin and history, not to mention that it is the culture of successive generations, which continued to wound and modify it. This is in addition to its universality, which is evident in its impressive ability to transcend the boundaries of place and time, and its enormous capacity to adapt outside its homeland and beyond its era, so that it remains a seed among opposing peoples who adopt it in their crises. From this perspective, the researcher’s approach to heritage comes in light of studying the legend and its repercussions, because with adherence to all scientific research conditions, much beneficial to our reading of our heritage and even our present can be found in the old. The researcher’s interest in ancient heritage primarily stems from considering it the possible way to reach the roots of many beliefs that guide the thinking and behavior of our people today, and perhaps to modify that behavior, in addition to the potential that this approach carries, which does not clash with the element of faith. Because the space for freedom available in discussing the old, considering it not a matter of faith even if there is resemblance, does not put the researcher in a position of doubt, and grants him a certain freedom of movement, research, and expression, while ensuring that the other party in the intellectual conflict cannot use its traditional weapons to suppress research and silence speech, and perhaps even paralyze those traditional weapons themselves. Here, it becomes clear that there is some kind of relationship between legend and religion that requires specific clarification. Since the researcher’s discussion is about the old heritage, it will be accurate to indicate that this clarification and specification will focus in this study on primitive religions, which reached their peak with certain social and economic conditions that the legend no longer suffices to keep pace with, leading to religion manifesting as a broader cognitive alternative and more capable of cognitive treatment.
