The word of the Editor-in-Chief in Abu Dhabi during the past month, the protectors of nature and all those interested in preserving the planet Earth, were on a date with the "World Conference on Nature Conservation" affiliated with the "International Union for Conservation of Nature" (IUCN). Valuable discussions took place during this event, and the conference participants reached important recommendations. During my attendance at the conference, I thought deeply about the significance and major implications of Abu Dhabi hosting this global event, and about the path that the United Arab Emirates has taken in this field to reach what it has achieved today. The first thing I recalled was the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who established for Abu Dhabi — and for the UAE in general — a policy of giving nature a central place in shaping the relationship between humans and their land. That wise vision drew from the local environment and its rich traditions rooted in the desert and the values and authenticity of its people. Thus, Sheikh Zayed laid the foundations of the natural domain, starting with the establishment of many reserves and natural parks according to international standards; then the wise leadership after him followed the same approach, placing the country among the advanced nations in the field of environmental preservation and good management of the natural domain. During the conference, I met with a group of National Geographic explorers, and I learned about important pioneering experiences in nature conservation from various countries; among them was the Arab "Hama" system, which was appreciated by audiences from diverse and varied cultures. At the end of the event, we were pleased with the re-election of His Excellency "Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak" as President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and our pride increased with the announcement by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, of increasing the area of natural reserves in Abu Dhabi to reach 20 percent of the total area of the emirate. After this journey in the realm of nature and its protectors, we return you to this issue, whose investigations are distinguished by scientific depth exploring the human self and his ambition for progress and advancement, where the main investigation will inform you of exciting scientific discoveries paving the way to "human hibernation" that, if achieved, could revolutionize medicine and bring us countless benefits. I wish you an enjoyable reading! In this issue, you will read about: Human hibernation... seems pure imagination... but it may be achieved soon The ITR project Sherpa climbers Attention deficit disorder
