The gum Arabic tree, Al Hashab, Senegalese Senna, Acacia, is a medium-sized deciduous tree that reaches a height of approximately 6 to 14 meters. It is cultivated in desert areas due to its ability to withstand harsh environmental conditions, tolerate drought and thirst, and resist salinity. It is a tree of high importance and value, producing the best and finest types of gum, which is extracted from the bark of the tree and used for many different purposes, including medicinal and health uses. It is widespread in Sudan and known as the Al Hashab tree. Propagation: • Reproduces through seeds. Planting times: • March and April, also mid-September, and in spring. Soil type: • Grows well in most fertile soil types. Drainage: • Good drainage and aeration. • Soak the seeds in lukewarm water for 24 to 48 hours and plant directly in the soil.
