Uniview IPC325LB-ASF28K-A specifications

Also listed as UNV IPC325LB-ASF28K-A. Core details:

• Resolution: 5MP.
• Type: fixed IR dome network camera.

What 5MP gets you in a dome camera

Five megapixels capture more detail than 2MP or 4MP cameras looking at the same scene, so you can zoom into a recording to make out a face at the door or the colour of a car in the parking area. With a fixed dome, the extra resolution also means one camera can cover a wider area at usable detail, instead of two cameras in the same corridor. Higher resolution needs more storage, so size the hard drives in your recorder for the number of cameras and the days of footage you want to keep.

Night vision and recording

Infrared lets the camera see in complete darkness in black and white, which is what you need in warehouse aisles after closing time or residential car parks at night. Recording normally goes to an NVR that brings every camera together.

Where to install it in Saudi Arabia

• Shop entrances and checkouts in malls and markets.
• Office corridors and company waiting areas.
• Indoor parking in residential buildings.
• Small warehouses and stockrooms behind shops.

Three questions before you order

First, do you need audio with the video, for example at a cashier or front desk? Second, will you record only to an NVR, or do you want a memory card inside the camera as backup during network outages? Third, is the area lit at night or completely dark, and is there strong backlight from a glass door? Your answers decide whether this model is enough or a close relative in the Uniview range fits better.

Other models in the IPC325LB family

The family also includes two other models. The IPC325LB-AF28-A2 is 5MP with a 2.8mm F2.0 lens, built-in mic, Human Body Detection 2.0, 3.9W draw and no memory card slot. The IPC325LB-SF28-A is 5MP with a 2.8mm F2.1 lens, a 97° view and no mic.
