Product description

The Grandstream GWN7662 is an indoor Wi-Fi 6 access point with a 4x4:4 5GHz radio, a 2x2:2 2.4GHz radio and 5.38 Gbps of combined wireless throughput, fed by a 2.5G uplink. It serves up to 256 clients and suits offices, clinics and apartment buildings where most devices connect on 5GHz.

====

The Grandstream GWN7662 is an indoor Wi-Fi 6 access point built around a 4x4:4 5GHz radio, paired with a 2x2:2 2.4GHz radio for 5.38 Gbps of combined wireless throughput. It serves up to 256 clients at once and covers up to 175 meters, depending on walls and layout. For offices, clinics and apartment buildings in Saudi Arabia, where most devices already sit on 5GHz, it puts the money where the traffic is instead of paying for 4x4 on both bands.

Grandstream GWN7662 specs at a glance

The 5GHz radio carries four spatial streams. That is the band your staff laptops and phones use most of the day.

  • 5GHz: up to 4804 Mbps on 802.11ax, with channels up to 160MHz wide.
  • 2.4GHz: up to 573.5 Mbps on 802.11ax.
  • 256 concurrent clients and 32 SSIDs (16 per radio).
  • 6 internal antennas and up to 27 dBm transmit power on 5GHz.

A 2.5G uplink that keeps pace with the radio

More than 5 Gbps of wireless capacity is wasted behind a 1 Gbps cable. The GWN7662 has two Ethernet ports: one 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps and one 10/100/1000 Mbps. Connect the 2.5G port to a multi-gigabit switch and heavy 5GHz traffic reaches the wired network without a bottleneck.

PoE power with a 16 W ceiling

There is no need for a power outlet in the ceiling. The AP runs on PoE, accepts 802.3af and 802.3at, adapts automatically to whichever it detects, and supports 802.3az energy-efficient Ethernet. Maximum draw is 16 W, below the GWN7664E (21 W) and GWN7665 (22.55 W), which helps when you are sharing a PoE switch budget with cameras and phones.

Controller built in, cloud management free

Each unit includes an embedded controller for up to 50 local Grandstream APs. Multi-site companies can manage Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam branches from GDMS Networking, Grandstream's free cloud platform with no AP limit, or run GWN Manager on their own server. Security covers secure boot, a unique certificate and random default password per device, and WPA3 alongside WPA2 Enterprise.

Where the GWN7662 fits

  • Mid-size offices with modern laptops and all-day video calls.
  • Clinics and medical centers that keep reception PCs, tablets and booking systems on separate SSIDs and VLANs.
  • Residential buildings and serviced apartments that want a separate network per floor.
  • Large villas with a big majlis or living room full of guests on their phones.

GWN7662, GWN7664E or GWN7665?

All three share nearly the same 205.3 x 205.3 x 45.9 mm housing and 175 m range; the radios, ports and power differ. The GWN7664E runs 4x4:4 on both bands (up to 1147 Mbps on 2.4GHz), serves 512 clients, has two 2.5G ports and draws up to 21 W on 802.3at. The GWN7665 adds a 6GHz band (Wi-Fi 6E) with 2x2:2 on three bands and 384 clients. Pick the GWN7662 for up to 256 mostly-5GHz devices, and the GWN7664E for crowded halls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the GWN7662 come with a power adapter?

No. It is powered by PoE from an 802.3af or 802.3at switch or injector and draws up to 16 W.

Is the 2.5G port useful on a gigabit switch?

It works on any gigabit switch, but a 2.5G switch port lets the 5.38 Gbps radio stack pass more traffic to the wired network.

How many APs can it manage without a controller?

The embedded controller handles up to 50 Grandstream APs on site; for more APs or several branches, use the free GDMS cloud platform.
