Grandstream GWN7700 Unmanaged Switch with 5 Gigabit Ports

Product description

The Grandstream GWN7700 is a compact unmanaged switch with five 10/100/1000 Mbps ports that works the moment you plug in power and cables. It is a good fit for home offices, reception desks and any spot where the router has run out of LAN ports.

====

The Grandstream GWN7700 fixes a problem almost every home and small office runs into: the router has one or two free LAN ports, but the PC, printer, TV receiver and game console all want a cable. Run one cable from the router to the switch and you get four more Gigabit ports straight away. It is an unmanaged switch, so there is no setup page and no password. Power and cables are all it needs.

GWN7700 key specs

Each of the five RJ45 ports detects the speed of the device on the other end and the cable type (auto MDI/MDIX), so any standard patch cable works.

  • 5 ports at 10/100/1000 Mbps.
  • 10 Gbps switching capacity, enough for every port to run at full speed at once.
  • 2K MAC address table.
  • Jumbo frames up to 9 KB.
  • External 5V/0.6A adapter, 1.7W base power draw.

Small enough to hide, simple enough to forget

The GWN7700 measures 120 x 65 x 24.5 mm and weighs 100 g in a plastic housing. Put it on a desk, next to a TV or under a reception counter. At 1.7W base consumption it can stay on all day without anyone noticing, and Grandstream builds the series with power-saving green technology.

Traffic priority without configuration

Even without a management interface, the GWN7700 honors 802.1p and DSCP priority tags. If an IP phone on the network marks its voice packets, they move ahead of file downloads. IGMP snooping sends multicast streams only to the ports that asked for them, and IEEE 802.3x flow control is supported. The datasheet also lists broadcast, multicast and unicast storm control fixed at 100 Mbps for the series.

Where it fits

  • Home office: a PC, network printer and IP phone on one desk.
  • Villa living room or majlis: smart TV, receiver and console on cable instead of Wi-Fi.
  • Clinic or shop front desk: point-of-sale terminal, receipt printer and PC from one wall jack.
  • A small warehouse office that needs two or three extra ports.

Compatibility and limits

It works with any STC, Mobily or Zain home router and with any device that has an Ethernet port. It does not supply PoE, so IP phones, cameras and access points will each need their own adapter, or you should choose a PoE switch. There is also no management interface: no VLANs and no GDMS cloud monitoring. For those, look at the managed Grandstream GWN7800 series.

GWN7700 or GWN7700P?

Both have five Gigabit ports, 10 Gbps switching and a 2K MAC table. The GWN7700P adds PoE+ on four ports (up to 30W each, 60W in total), a metal case and a 48 to 53.5V adapter. The GWN7700 has no PoE, a smaller plastic case and a 5V adapter. Pick the GWN7700 when every device you connect already has its own power supply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the GWN7700 need any setup?

No. It is unmanaged: connect power and cables and it starts switching immediately.

Can the GWN7700 power IP phones or cameras?

No, it has no PoE. For powered ports choose the GWN7700P, which supplies PoE+ on 4 ports with a 60W total budget.

How fast are the GWN7700 ports?

All five ports are Gigabit (10/100/1000 Mbps) and the 10 Gbps switching capacity lets them run at full speed together.
