Product description
The Grandstream GXP1628 is a 2-line desk IP phone with dual Gigabit ports, PoE and 8 BLF keys that show colleagues' line status. It fits offices on a Gigabit network that want a phone that will not slow down the PC plugged in behind it.
====
The Grandstream GXP1628 is a 2-line desk phone with dual Gigabit ports and 8 dual-color BLF keys that show colleagues' line status. It passes the network on to the PC at 1000 Mbps, so the phone never becomes the bottleneck in offices that move large files around. It suits finance teams, engineering offices and front-desk staff in small companies running Gigabit networks.
What the Grandstream GXP1628 offers
- 2 lines and 2 SIP accounts with dual-color LEDs.
- 8 dual-color BLF/speed dial keys.
- Dual 10/100/1000 Mbps ports with integrated PoE.
- 2.95-inch backlit LCD.
- HD wideband audio and 3-way conferencing.
Full Gigabit for the PC behind the phone
Most desks get a single network cable, shared by the phone and the computer. With a 10/100 phone in the middle, the PC is capped at 100 Mbps no matter how fast the switch is. Both GXP1628 ports are Gigabit, so the PC keeps full network speed, which people notice the moment they open files from the company server or upload large drawings.
8 BLF keys show who is on a call
Program each key with a colleague's extension and its color changes with the line status. The front desk can see the manager is busy before transferring, and grab a call ringing at an empty desk with call pickup. The same keys double as speed dials for numbers you call daily, such as the warehouse, a branch or a key supplier.
Power and mounting
The phone runs on 802.3af Class 2 PoE at 3.84 to 6.49 W, or on a 5 V / 600 mA adapter. The two-position stand sits on a desk, and the phone can also be wall-mounted. It measures 220.5 × 192.5 × 76 mm with handset and weighs 0.8 kg.
Easy for IT to manage
On a Grandstream UCM the phone provisions itself through Zero Config as soon as it is plugged in, with no per-device setup. Other platforms can provision in bulk via TR-069 or AES-encrypted XML files. Security covers SRTP, TLS, HTTPS and 802.1x, and hot desking lets shift workers log in with their own account on any phone.
Typical uses in Saudi Arabia
- Finance and engineering departments on Gigabit networks.
- A front desk keeping an eye on 8 department heads.
- Supervisor offices in warehouses and distribution centers.
- Branch offices tied to a head-office PBX in Riyadh or Jeddah.
Compatibility
Standard SIP means the GXP1628 registers to Grandstream UCM, Yeastar and any other SIP PBX, with failover to a backup server if the main one drops. It holds up to 1,000 contacts pulled from an XML file or the company LDAP directory.
GXP1628, GXP1625 or GXP1630?
The GXP1625 is the simpler option: two lines, 10/100 ports and no BLF keys. Pick the GXP1628 for a Gigabit network or when you need to watch colleagues' lines. If the user juggles 3 accounts or runs 4-party conference calls, go for the GXP1630.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the GXP1628 ports really Gigabit?
Yes. Both ports are 10/100/1000 Mbps, so a PC connected through the phone runs at Gigabit speed.
What are the 8 BLF keys for?
Assign each to a colleague's extension to see their line status and transfer or pick up their calls with one press, or use them as speed dials.
Do I need a PoE switch?
No. It runs on PoE when available, or on a 5 V power adapter.
