Product description

The Grandstream GWN7660 is an indoor dual-band Wi-Fi 6 access point with 1.77 Gbps of combined wireless throughput and up to 175 m of coverage. It is aimed at open-plan offices, training halls and hotels where many devices share one network.

====

The Grandstream GWN7660 is an indoor Wi-Fi 6 access point from the GWN7600 series, rated by Grandstream for 1.77 Gbps of combined wireless throughput. It belongs in places where dozens of phones and laptops fight for airtime: open-plan offices, training rooms, hotel corridors and meeting halls. Power arrives over the Ethernet cable, so no ceiling outlet is required.

Grandstream GWN7660 key specs

Grandstream's technical specifications list:

  • 2.4GHz radio up to 573.5 Mbps and 5GHz radio up to 1201 Mbps.
  • 2x2:2 MU-MIMO on both bands, with uplink and downlink OFDMA.
  • Coverage of up to 175 m, depending on the building.
  • 32 SSIDs, 16 per radio.
  • Two autosensing Gigabit Ethernet ports.
  • 9 W maximum draw over 802.3af or 802.3at PoE.

Built for crowded rooms

Older access points serve one client at a time on a channel. With OFDMA, the GWN7660 splits each transmission among several devices at once, so a room full of users does not turn into a queue. Beamforming focuses the signal toward connected clients, which helps the laptops at the far end of the hall.

Controller built in, cloud management included

Every GWN7660 carries an embedded controller that can manage up to 50 local Grandstream APs, so a mid-size branch needs no extra hardware. For several sites, say Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam, the free GDMS Networking cloud platform manages an unlimited number of APs, and GWN Manager runs on your own server for up to 3,000 APs.

Each SSID gets its own client settings, captive portal and bandwidth limits, and QoS with VLAN tagging lets you put voice and video traffic first.

Typical deployments in Saudi Arabia

  • Corporate offices with open floors and heavy laptop use.
  • Hotels and serviced apartments: Grandstream publishes a case study of Hotel Kollol using GWN7660 and GWN7602 units for rooms and indoor areas.
  • Schools and training centers where a whole class connects at once.
  • Air-conditioned warehouses and their admin offices, for scanners and staff phones.

Installation, power and security

Mount it on a ceiling or wall with the kit in the box. Feed it from a PoE switch or a PoE injector; the AP detects PoE or PoE+ and adjusts its power draw. The operating range is 0°C to 45°C, so this is an indoor unit only. Security covers WPA3 plus secure boot, a unique certificate and a random default password on every unit.

GWN7660 or GWN7660E?

Both share the same housing and series; the radios and ports differ. The GWN7660 runs 2x2:2 on 5GHz with channels up to 80 MHz (1201 Mbps), has two Gigabit ports and draws 9 W. The GWN7660E moves to 3x3:2 on 5GHz with 160 MHz channels (2402 Mbps), has a single Gigabit port and draws 12.95 W. Pick the GWN7660 for two Gigabit ports and a lower power draw, and the GWN7660E when newer devices need more speed each.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the GWN7660 include a power adapter?

No adapter is listed in the box. It is powered over Ethernet from an 802.3af/at PoE switch or a PoE injector.

Do I need a separate controller?

No. The embedded controller manages up to 50 Grandstream APs, and the GDMS Networking cloud platform is free to use.
