Product description
The Uniview OEC-R3H-M is a wall-mount 13.56MHz MIFARE reader with an IP65 housing and both Wiegand 26/34 and RS485 outputs. It is built for exposed entrances such as villa gates, compound gates and warehouse doors, and mounts on an 86 × 86 mm or 115 × 73 mm electrical box.
====
The Uniview OEC-R3H-M is the reader for doors that a standard indoor unit would not survive: a villa gate in full afternoon sun, a warehouse entrance coated in dust, a compound gate that takes winter rain. It reads 13.56MHz MIFARE cards, sits in an IP65 housing, and reports card numbers to the controller over Wiegand or RS485, whichever your wiring calls for.
Uniview OEC-R3H-M specifications
Key figures:
- Frequency: 13.56MHz, MIFARE cards.
- Read range: up to 5 cm for IC cards.
- Read time: under 1 s.
- Interfaces: Wiegand 26/34 and RS485.
- Protection: IP65, polycarbonate (PC) housing.
- Operating range: -30°C to 65°C, 10% to 90% humidity.
- Power: 12 V DC ± 25%, 61 mA, 0.732 W.
Built for exposed entrances
IP65 means the reader is dust-tight and protected against water jets, so there is no need for an extra enclosure at an outdoor gate. It runs from -30°C up to 65°C, and storage is rated from -40°C to 65°C, so a few weeks in an un-air-conditioned site store before installation is not a concern.
The 5 cm read range is a little more forgiving than slim readers. A resident carrying shopping bags only needs to bring the card near the reader, not press it flat against the face.
A status light anyone can read
The reader glows blue in standby. When the controller accepts a card it turns green for one second; when access is refused it turns red for one second. At gates used by visitors, drivers and contractors, that tells each person straight away whether their card is active or needs to be sorted out with management.
Mounting and wiring
The OEC-R3H-M fits over an 86 × 86 mm back box, a common wall back-box size, or a 115 × 73 mm box. At 129 × 88 × 21 mm and 134 g, it covers the box completely and hides the cable entry behind it.
You get two wiring options. Wiegand 26/34 is what most controllers accept. RS485 is the better choice for longer runs between reader and controller.
What a complete outdoor door needs
- An indoor access controller.
- A suitable electric lock, for example the Uniview OEA-MS12-280L, a 280 kg magnetic lock with an L-shaped bracket.
- An exit button and a door contact.
- MIFARE cards, plus the OEC-W1D-EMC desktop reader to log their numbers on a PC.
Where it is used in Saudi Arabia
- Villa and istiraha gates: family members enter with a card instead of a key.
- Residential compounds: the main gate plus each building entrance.
- Warehouses and factories in the industrial cities of Riyadh and Dammam: loading-bay doors and worker entrances.
- Pedestrian doors from car parks in towers and malls.
OEC-R3H-M or OEC-R1H-M?
Both read 13.56MHz MIFARE cards, so the same cards work on either. The R3H-M adds IP65 protection, an RS485 port, a 5 cm read range instead of 3 cm, operation from -30°C instead of -10°C, and back-box mounting. The R1H-M is slimmer at 17 mm, offers Wiegand only, and suits indoor office doors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the OEC-R3H-M suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. It is rated IP65 and operates from -30°C to 65°C, so it suits villa gates, compound gates and warehouse entrances.
Does it read 125kHz EM cards?
No. It reads 13.56MHz MIFARE cards. For EM cards, Uniview offers the OEC-R1H-E.
Should I wire it with Wiegand or RS485?
Wiegand 26/34 is the most common controller input; RS485 handles longer cable runs. The reader supports both.
