Tiger Balm

Tiger Balm is a topical ointment used traditionally to relieve pain and stiffness in muscles and joints, as well as for treating some symptoms associated with colds and flu. It consists of aromatic oils and active ingredients that provide a warming and cooling sensation alternately. • Form: a thick topical ointment (balm), often comes in small hexagonal containers. • Basic composition: made of aromatic oils, including: • Camphor: relieves pain and swelling, acts as a local analgesic. • Menthol: provides a sensation of coolness then warmth, helps soothe pain and relieve nasal congestion when inhaled. • Cajuput Oil. • Clove Oil. • Peppermint Oil. • Common uses: • Relieving muscle and joint pain: used for massaging painful areas to reduce stiffness and fatigue. • Headaches: used by massaging a small amount on the forehead or temples. • Nasal congestion: used by applying a small amount under the nose or inhaling its vapor to clear the nasal passages. • Insect bites: to help relieve itching and pain.
