A sacrificial Eid al-Adha (Aqiqah) free of all conditions
Aqiqah is the sacrifice that is slaughtered for the newborn on the seventh day of birth, it is called: Aqiqah, and it is called: Nasiqa, and some people call it: Tameemah.
It is for the male two sheep, and for the female one sheep.
It suffices for the sacrifice, meaning: a young sheep or a ewe of two years or older.
This is called: Aqiqah, and it is a confirmed Sunnah because the Prophet ordered it.
He ordered to slaughter two sheep for a boy and one for a girl, and said: Every boy is pledged by his Aqiqah, slaughtered for him on the seventh day, and he is shaved and named.
It is Sunnah for the father to slaughter for his young child two sheep if he is a boy, and one sheep for a girl on the seventh day.
If it is not possible to slaughter it after that, then on the fourteenth or the twenty-first day, as narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), or otherwise, there is no fixed limit after the seventh.
If it is possible on the seventh, that is better.
The boy’s head is shaved and he is named.
And if he is named at birth, there is no harm.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) named some of the Ansar’s children on the day of birth, and named his son Ibrahim on the day of birth.
And if he is named on the seventh day, that is also Sunnah.
