This workshop explores current and future approaches in forensic science with the aim of establishing post-conference action plans. Using firearm investigations as our multi-disciplinary case study, we consider and reflect on how technology, openly accessible information and more collaborative policies and practices can aid us in identifying new, emerging and future threats or trends before evidence gets submitted to the laboratory. In addition, the workshop will explore how effectively collecting and using data could enable us to monitor our workflows, allocate resources and evaluate change.
