Cybercrimes are an increasing threat for Global society and economy. The estimated cost of cybercrimes to global economy is in hundreds of billions of GBP. Conventional forensic science methods are not appropriate to deal with multidisciplinary cybercrimes. Digital forensics is emerging, as a sub-field of forensic science, with overlap with computing and other disciplines to address versatile nature and varying scale of national and global cybercrimes. However, there is a skills gap within this sector. There is a need to design a coherent competency framework for digital forensic practitioners from industry, public, law enforcement and state security sectors. Also, define concentrated multidisciplinary knowledge areas and design an overall transnational curricular for digital forensics with the focus on producing employable graduates.

This workshop aims to disseminate curricula created to inform higher education and training institutions to design industry oriented and skills focused programs. The goal is to bring Digital Forensics, an emerging sub-discipline of Forensic Science, in line with technology and related established sciences by distilling knowledge from national and international wider-domain experts.
