Cycas Plant

Cycas is originally an outdoor plant, but it can also be successfully grown indoors when provided with a few simple conditions. Its natural habitat extends from Japan to Queensland, and it is also found in India and Madagascar. It resembles palm trees and is characterized by its slow growth. Some species can reach a height of up to 15 meters when grown outdoors. Its slow growth is one of the reasons it can be successfully grown as an indoor plant.

Cycas Care

Cycas is an easy-care plant that can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, provided the temperature does not fall below 12°C in winter. It does not require high humidity and is not affected by dry air.

It needs direct sunlight throughout the year. Water moderately, and during winter, water when the soil is almost dry.

Fertilizing three times a year with a diluted fertilizer at a lower concentration than the standard recommended dose is sufficient.

Cycas Propagation

Cycas is propagated through offsets (pups). However, offsets rarely develop when the plant is grown indoors due to its slow growth and because indoor conditions are not its natural outdoor environment.

The offsets should be separated and planted by an experienced specialist.
