Description

Cycas or Sago Palm (Cycas revoluta) is originally an outdoor plant, but it can also be successfully grown indoors when provided with a few simple conditions. Its natural habitat extends from Japan to Queensland, and it is also found in India and Madagascar. It resembles palm trees and is characterized by its slow growth. Some species can reach a height of up to 15 meters when grown outdoors. Its slow growth is one of the factors that make it suitable for growing as an indoor plant.

Care

Cycas is an easy-care plant that can tolerate a wide range of temperatures, provided that the temperature does not fall below 12°C during winter. It does not require high humidity and can tolerate dry air.

It needs direct sunlight throughout the year. Water moderately, and during winter, water when the soil is almost dry.

Fertilizing the plant three times a year with a diluted fertilizer at a lower concentration than the standard recommended dose is sufficient.
