Product description

At the beginning of the 14th Hijri century, Sheikh Muhammad Hussein Al-Azheri authored three essays on the Arabic language: in morphology, grammar, and orthography. He compiled them in the order mentioned into one book called: "The Basic Rules in the Sciences of Arabic." The first edition of the book was published at the Miriyah Printing House in Boulaq in the year 1302 AH. The book received acceptance and praise, and it became a prescribed study for students of the Prince's elementary stage, after the scientific committee convened at the Diwan of Knowledge at that time unanimously decided to print the book. This committee included a group of Egypt’s senior scholars of that era, namely the senior professors and esteemed scholars: Hamza Fath Allah, Hussein Al-Marsafi, Hassan Al-Tawil, Muhammad Al-Bisyuni, Mahmoud Al-Alam, in addition to its author, who was a member due to his high scholarly standing. To enrich the morphology library, we dedicated a separate printed essay on morphology, recognizing the need of the Arabic library for such small, beneficial, and teachable works in scientific courses and early stages of scientific and Shariah institutes. We aided in this by making this essay independent of my essays on grammar and orthography. We chose the name "The Art of Morphology" because it was the first title the author used after the book’s introduction, and because it accurately reflected and encompassed the book’s content. Our work was limited to comparing the text of the book, correcting the examples and some problematic words, organizing the book’s sections, counting some of its topics, and placing appropriate punctuation marks. As for the author of the book, he is one of the scholars of Al-Azhar and its teachers, a teacher of Arabic at Khalil Agha School, and a member of the Arabic Scientific Committee convened at the Egyptian Diwan of Knowledge. His published works also include: • The Noble Investigations in Morphology and Grammar Rules. • The Hidden Treasure in Composing Replies.
