Because "the formation of the classical interpretation" is the first comprehensive study of Al-Tahlebī's interpretation, it clarifies its importance and influence among the books of Tafsir, after it was subjected to criticism with blame and denial until it became in the eyes of researchers of little importance, full of nonsense and superstitions, while it is considered the foundation for later books of Tafsir that benefited from it through influence, transfer, or abridgment. In facing the previous interpretive material before "Al-Kashf," which continuously increased in size, Al-Tahlebī began organizing, arranging, and enriching it; thus, the interpretation of the Quran was no longer as it was in the past, after the classical era of encyclopedic works had arrived, and the interpreter could speak about any topic as long as it was related to a Quranic word or concept. With this, Al-Tahlebī redefined what can and what is permissible to include in Tafsir of the Quran, and for the first time in the history of Quranic interpretation, we have subheadings within the Tafsir text itself, beyond the names of the surahs. It also covers a large number of chapters dealing with jurisprudential issues, which is not surprising given the many Quranic verses that address these issues.
