Pure rose for the student of prosody and rhymes

I was entrusted with reviewing the book "Al-Ward Al-Safi li Talib Al-‘Uruud wal-Qawaafi" authored by the esteemed late Sheikh Mustafa Al-Sawi - teacher of language and literature at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif - during its third edition printing. I found it to be a magnificent and comprehensive book, rich enough to need no addition or subtraction. Its author set it on a beautiful new approach, with a clear, engaging, and attractive style that brings the sciences of prosody and poetry close to the student's mind and understanding. And our great teacher Sheikh Mustafa Al-Sawi - may Allah have mercy on him and reward him generously - was a scholar in literature, language, and prosody. He was unique in many aspects, possessing high ambition, noble spirit, and evident generosity. He was diligent in serving knowledge and religion within his broad and vast horizons. He was a tactful journalist who made his magazine "Al-Bashir" a high platform for serving language, literature, and society. In the summer of 1949, Allah's mercy claimed him, and he left the field, falling as a martyr in the battle of science, literature, and culture. He left a lasting impact, an unforgettable memory, and hundreds of young men and scholars who benefited from his abundant knowledge and graduated under his guidance. And here is "Al-Mawrid Al-Safi" in its new edition, which we present to students, scholars, and writers as a lofty legacy of a noble author, may Allah have mercy on him and reward him generously.
