Power Scan automotive circuit test Autel PS100 is absolutely a must-have tool for every technician or hobbyist looking for a quick and accurate solution to diagnose the electrical system. Main features of PS100: ● The PS100 vehicle circuit scanner performs multiple system circuit tests including power injection, measurement, ground test, polarity tests, continuity test, and component activation; ● The PS100 circuit test allows you to read voltage, current, and resistance at hand; ● This vehicle circuit tester comes with a power switch face, you have a hot/ground lead to turn on electrical components such as cooling fans, switches, etc.; ● The circuit tester allows immediate identification of positive, negative, and open circuits; ● Autel PS100 can instantly test poor ground contacts, allowing you to quickly locate shorts without wasting fuses; ● Checks continuity of switches, relays, and diodes instantly; ● The device also features overload protection. The internal circuit breaker trips if overloaded; ● Built-in flashlight enables you to work in darkness; ● Audio tone indicator allows users to quickly familiarize with the tone menu; ● 20ft (extendable) cable provides excellent access for testing along the vehicle. 1. Two power supply methods PS100 circuit testing has two power sources. Connect the AUTEL PS100 directly to the cigarette lighter or battery terminal, then you are ready to test. Compared to other circuit testers that only use the vehicle’s battery power, PS100 offers more options and is more convenient to use. 2. Do more functions with the multimeter: select diagnosis mode by pressing the mode button, then connect the probe to the circuit, and the LCD will display DC/AC voltage, resistance. 3. Quickly locate open or short circuits: follow the AUTEL PS100 probe and place the open or short circuit without moving panels, molds, or carpets to expose the wiring. No more fragile fuses. What can the Autel PS100 do? 1. Voltage and polarity testing: while in DC voltage mode, connect the probe to a positive circuit, the red LED will light up. If connected to a negative circuit, the green LED will light up. If connected to an open circuit, neither LED will light. 2. Continuity testing: while in resistance mode, using the probe with a ground structure or auxiliary ground lead, you can test the continuity of attached wires and components or disconnect from the vehicle’s electrical system. Note: you can pierce the plastic insulation on the wire with the probe. This means you can test the circuit without disconnecting anything. 3. Signal circuit testing: once you retrieve the DTC from the vehicle and realize that troubleshooting begins with some kind of sensor circuit, there is a quick test you can do to verify the code. Your sensor test is easy while using the tool. 4. Activate components: while in DC voltage mode, using the probe connected to the auxiliary ground lead, you can activate components directly in your hand, thus testing their functions, such as activating lights, motors, and other onboard electrical equipment. 5. Trailer lights and connection testing: while in DC voltage mode, connect the auxiliary ground lead to the trailer ground, and then apply voltage to the probe. This allows you to verify the function and guide the trailer connector lights. 6. Activate vehicle components: while in DC voltage mode, connect the probe to the positive terminal of the component, the green LED should light, indicating continuity to ground. Note: when activating components, you can extend the life of the power switch by first pressing the switch, then connecting the tip to the component. The bend will occur at the tip instead of the switch contacts. 7. Activate components with positive/ground: while in DC voltage mode, connect the probe to the negative terminal of the component, the red LED should light. 8. Check poor ground connections: probe suspected ground wires or contacts with the probe. Observe the green LED. Press the power switch forward then release it. If the green LED goes out and the red LED lights, this is not a true ground. If the circuit breaker trips, this circuit is more likely a good ground. Note: high-current components such as starter motors will also trip the circuit breaker. 9. Follow and identify short circuits: in most cases, a short circuit will appear as a blown fuse or trip the electrical protection device. Use the probe to activate and test all fuse connections. The connection that trips the circuit breaker is the short circuit. 10. Red/Green polarity LED: Red/green polarity LEDs light up when the probe voltage matches the battery voltage within ±0.8 volts. Additional information that can be valuable to the technician. Autel Power Scan PS100 four operating modes: There are four modes for diagnosing electrical systems, which can be accessed by pressing the mode button and cycling through each. DC Voltage: while in this mode, connect the probe to the circuit, then the LCD will read the DC voltage with a resolution of 0.1 volts. AC Voltage: while in this mode, connect the probe to the circuit, then the LCD will read the maximum AC voltage, accurate. Voltage, frequency, and duty cycle. Resistance: while in this mode, connect the probe to the circuit, then the LCD will read the resistance between the probe and the auxiliary ground lead. Tone on/off: while in this mode, simply press the mode button briefly to toggle the tone or turn it off. During quick pressing (short press and release) of the mode button, if a high short sound is heard, it means the tone is on. If a low short sound is heard, the tone is off. This function is invaluable when working in bright areas where LED lighting alone is insufficient. The sound feature can be turned off if desired, such as in applications where the device will be connected to circuits for long periods and the sound may become annoying.
