The physics of sadness is a surreal and confusing personal literary text, follows the stream of consciousness, and cleverly mixes autobiography and literary writing like no other. In it, Gospodinov attempted to chronicle the tragedies of his homeland Bulgaria, which was considered one of the most miserable and sorrowful countries in the world. The novel was nominated for several international awards for translated novels and has been translated into dozens of languages.
