Al-Awamiyah: history and heritage

Al-Awamiyah is an ancient city with a history deeply rooted in the past; and although it is not considered one of the well-known archaeological sites scattered throughout the Eastern Province, it is widely believed by many that Al-Awamiyah rests on treasures of psychological آثار dating back to different historical eras. This reinforces the belief that this city has an old heritage and historical and civilizational roots dating back to the city of Al-Zarah, which is renowned in Islamic history and before. Due to the historical importance of this city, the author "Zaki Al-Saleh" aimed to highlight what was unknown about its history and to document what has been lost of its heritage, by showcasing its neighborhoods, facilities, its sheikhs, mosques and Hussainiyas, its Kuttabs, the characteristics of the dialect of its inhabitants, its proverbs, children's folk songs, the jinn and superstitious beliefs of its people, traditional medicine, customs and traditions... its most important figures, and its most prominent agricultural products. Despite its antiquity, this city, like other cities and villages of Qatif, has not received dedicated studies and research, despite its distinguished historical and social status.
