A brief about the novel "Your Snow Covers What Is Beneath" and "Snow Covers the Ashes of the City." This is how Kars appears — one of the cities of Anatolia — far removed from Istanbul, immersed in poverty, political divisions, and misery. Its troubled history stirs beneath the layers of whiteness. It bears some relics of the Ottomans and Armenians, and remnants of the suffering caused by Russians and Turks. Ka's journey was not an ordinary one. Ka is a talented poet, communist, and leftist. He was exiled from Turkey ten years before his trip to Kars. He returned to Istanbul after obtaining political asylum in Germany to attend his mother's funeral. While in the city, he was assigned — by a well-known newspaper in Istanbul — to visit Kars and investigate the wave of suicides carried out by some of the city’s veiled girls, and he was also asked to cover the town’s elections, which were expected to be won by Islamists. Aybik, Aybiklam, was not the love of his life; she was just a classmate during school days. What he remembers about her is her unique beauty and compelling charm. She married one of his friends, and she had recently separated from him. When he learned she was in Kars, he was excited to go to her, and her image took hold of him. Ka suffers from loneliness and emptiness, and his hair has been graying for years, and with exile, he is wrapped in sorrow wherever he turns. He lives in stagnation. So why not turn to her? Why not marry her and bring her back to Frankfurt? This obsession drives him to the remote Kars, and during his journey, the city is hit by a snowstorm, forcing him to stay for three days in a hostel owned and managed by Aybik’s father. Aybik appears to him — more beautiful than he remembers, more delicious than he dreams! And just as the snow falls on Kars’ residents, torrents of love flood his heart!
