Product description

The book "The Religious Life of the Moriscos" is a study of some Alhambra manuscripts, which deal with Islamic rituals as well as the files of the Inquisition courts that examined cases of Moriscos accused of practicing forbidden Islamic rituals by law. Based on all these documents, Longas portrays the religious life practiced by the Moriscos, and confirms that the Moriscos continued to practice Islamic rituals until the day they left Spain. This book presents another aspect of the issue, which is related to the literature written by Muslim Spaniards in Spanish language and Arabic script. We see that it sheds more light on the life of the Moriscos and invites us to a new reading of the history of Islam in Al-Andalus after the fall of Granada.
