Book summary: Françoise Sagan was born with the real name Françoise Quoirez in a conservative, well-off family in 1935. She obtained her baccalaureate in 1951. The world knew her when she was still a girl at the age of eighteen, when she published her famous first novel, "Bonjour Tristesse," in 1954, which is said to have been written in only thirty-two days... or more precisely, in thirty-two nights... as she was known to spend the entire night writing. The major publisher (Gulliar) welcomed this novel from a young and obscure writer at the time... but he was not disappointed in her great talent... and he supported and helped her later to publish many of her novels. Françoise was crowned after this novel, at a young age, as a great writer. It was said that she sparked the French mind, as she expressed her feelings as a teenage girl without any restrictions in front of the bourgeoisie class to which she belonged. After this novel, which was later adapted into a film, her life completely changed as she became famous, and money flowed into her hands, turning her peaceful life upside down. She was surrounded by older, prominent friends who sought her favor and provided her with the money, support, and assistance she needed. She then wrote her novel "Smile of What," which did not enjoy the same fame as the first novel... She continued writing throughout her life, and her total works reached forty books, including novels, plays, and stories.
Throughout her life, Françoise almost committed herself to writing without letting vanity kill her at the beginning... Friends gathered around her, and she developed a unique literary style and a completely different lifestyle. She remained known under the name she borrowed from Marcel Proust: Françoise Sagan.
Françoise had read many authors such as Balzac and Proust, as well as Racin and others... then came the time for writing... so she almost every year published a novel unlike any other... Among her works are the novel "A Palace in Sweden," published in a month, in a year, "Do You Like Brahms," "The Seductress," "A Lost Face," and "The Surrender Numbness"... She also wrote some theatrical works.
