Brief about the book: We read in this work about a house on an isolated island from the "main continent" where the poisoned world in which men and women who are harmed live. Three girls live in this house: Grace, Lia, and Sky, and with them live the mother and King (the father). Here we begin with the first elements of this literary work, which is the concealment of the mother's name, as we do not know who she is except as a mother, and through details of the work, we discover that her role is limited to dedicating the traditions that "King" the father will impose, choosing this name also which means "the king" carries connotations that cast shadows over the gloomy, dark atmosphere of the story. King convinces the girls that the main continent will cause their death, and that they must train to protect themselves and be excessively cautious of everything away from the island's borders. King controls their lives in the smallest details; they cannot cry, for example, nor eat anything, and they are forbidden from reading and studying. They live various rituals to treat their bodies and train them for what could happen to them of harm. Therefore, fear is all that these oppressed girls live with in this remote place that no one reaches, except women who, at one time, resorted to the island to undergo the same rituals to heal from the effects of the poison on them.
