Brief about the book: Tolstoy tells us that War and Peace is not a novel, nor is it a poem, but it is a literary record full of excitement, love stories, lessons of history, and lessons.
This novel, written by Tolstoy in 1869, which is considered the peak of his literary development, and some describe it as a novel contemplating history, shows us how the love of life conflicts with wars and their tragedies.
Tolstoy tells us that he wrote War and Peace to confirm that: an incident involving millions of people, and the killing of half a million men, cannot be caused by the will of a single individual; a man alone cannot force 500,000 people to die.
Leo Tolstoy (1828 - 1910) was not only a writer but also a thinker, philosopher, and revolutionary.
He wrote novels, stories, and plays, delved into philosophy, and established an intellectual school of thought through which he sought answers to the question that always troubled him: "Why do we live?"
All his works were attempts to answer this question.
As part of its project to publish Tolstoy's complete works, Al-Mada issues the full and faithful translation of Tolstoy’s timeless masterpiece "War and Peace," translated by the esteemed Sami Al-Droubi.
However, fate did not allow him to complete it after finishing the first and second parts, so the work was completed by the distinguished translator Saih Al-Jaheem, one of the most prominent Arab translators who introduced Tolstoy to Arabic with a pure, elegant language and a translation that matches the original text.
